Service Description

A 10 week, 2.5 hour course for students who want to learn the basics of hand building and wheel throwing and for those who want to learn or improve both skills. Classes taught with the careful, hands-on instruction and advice.from Yvette. You will learn different hand building techniques and how to throw pots on the wheel and/or improve your hand building as well as experiment with slips, underglazes and glazes. FOR THOSE WITH EXPERIENCE IN THIS STUDIO, YOU CAN GET STARTED ON DAY ONE WITH SOME SUPPORT We love to work with different colour media and surface design and encourage our students to do the same. The EPS is equipped with underglazes, slips, oxides and glazes to allow for a wide range of choices for decorating your work. We have been throwing and hand building for many years and learned useful skills along the way that we will share with you to ensure that you succeed in this class and leave with pieces that you are proud of. COURSE PACKAGE: 2.5 Hourclass Demonstrations and instruction from an established ceramic artist Access to expert advice via Wix or Facebook Slips, glazes and stoneware firing included Space in the studio to leave your clay for the next week Opportunity to join The EPS Hands on Clay, pottery user's group (HUG) after 4, eight week courses taken in the studio IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY AND CLEANLINESS, PLEASE BRING An apron, microfibre cloth and pillow sized cloth, large sponge, a 10 litre bucket as well as a large, round yoghurt tub or 2 litre tub Clay is to be purchased separately on this website before class begins 5 or 6 week term: 1/2 bag of clay - £7 - £12 8 or 10 week term: Full bag - £14 - £24 Purchase any clay BUT Crank or Raku- Cream or White clays for a cooler finish and brighter glazes, Grey/buff clay We are really looking forward to teaching and making ceramics with you ! * So long as you withdraw two weeks before teaching begins, refunds accepted, minus 5% transaction fee. After this period, all tuition fees are non-refundable If you cannot complete a short course because of illness, you will be able to donate your remaining lessons to local folk in Craigmillar community or pass them on to a friend. Refunds are not available once a period of study has commenced. If a course is unlikely to run, you will be informed a week beforehand about it and again a couple of days before it commences ( 100% refund will be issued )*
