Service Description

A 5 week course for students who want to learn the basics of wheel throwing and those who want to improve skills. Classes taught by the careful, hands-on instruction and advice of an experienced tutor, Caroline. You will learn how to throw on the wheel and/or improve your throwing technique as well as experiment with slips, underglazes and glazes. We love to work with different colour media and surface design and encourage students to do the same.. The EPS is equipped with underglazes, slips, oxides and glazes to allow for a wide range of choices for decorating your work. We will share our experience with you to ensure that you succeed in this class and leave with pieces that you are proud of. COURSE PACKAGE: 2.5 Hour Throwing class Demonstrations and instruction from a knowledgable, pottery tutor Access to expert advice via Wix or Facebook Slips, glazes and stoneware firing included Space in the studio to leave your clay for the next week Opportunity to join The EPS Hands on Clay, pottery user's group (HUG) after 4 classes taken in the studio Clay is to be purchased separately on this website before class begins 5 or 6 week term: 1/2 bag of clay - £7 - £12 8 or 10 week term: Full bag - £14 - £24 Purchase any clay BUT Crank or Raku - Cream or White clays for a cooler finish and brighter glazes, Grey/buff clay for a warmer effect and warmer glazes or Red or Toasted clays for earthier tones IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY AND CLEANLINESS, PLEASE BRING An apron, microfibre cloth and pillow sized cloth, large sponge, a 10 litre bucket as well as a large, round yoghurt tub or 2 litre tub Caroline is really looking forward to meeting you and teaching you ceramics ithis term * So long as you withdraw two weeks before teaching begins, refunds accepted, minus 5% transaction fee. After this period, all tuition fees are non-refundable If you cannot complete a short course because of illness, you will be able to donate your remaining lessons to local folk in Craigmillar community or pass them on to a friend. Refunds are not available once a period of study has commenced. If a course is unlikely to run, you will be informed a week beforehand about it and again a couple of days before it commences ( 100% refund will be issued )*
