Service Description

A 5 week course for students who want to learn how to make teapots. We will throw two-three bases, 4 spouts and 3 lids over two weeks, trim and assemble in week three then add slips or carve them in week 3/4. Week 5, should be glazing. Classes taught with the careful, hands-on instruction and advice of a university trained and 18 year experienced teacher. You will learn how to throw on the wheel and/or improve your throwing, as well as experiment with slips, underglazes and glazes. FOR STUDENTS WITH WHEEL EXPERIENCE ONLY I love to work with different colour media and surface design. I encourage my students to do the same and have equipped The EPS with underglazes, slips, oxides and glazes to allow for a wide range of choices for decorating your work. I have been throwing and hand building for 20 years and learned many skills along the way that I will share with you to ensure that you succeed in this class and leave with pieces that you are proud of. COURSE PACKAGE: 2 Hour COVID safe class Demonstrations and instruction from an established ceramic artist Access to expert advice via Wix or Facebook - Edinburgh Pottery Studio Slips, glazes and stoneware firing included Space in the studio to leave your clay for the next week Opportunity to join The EPS Hands on Clay, pottery user's group (HUG) after 4 courses taken in the studio IN THE INTEREST OF COVID SAFETY AND CLEANLINESS, PLEASE BRING An apron, small old towel, pillowcase sized cloth and a regular 10 litre bucket as well as a large 1kg yoghurt/peanut butter tub Clay is to be purchased separately on this website before class begins 1/2 bag of clay - £6 - £10 Full bag - £12 - £20 Purchase any clay but Crank or Raku I am really looking forward to teaching you and would love you join me in this new, Covid conscious studio. * As long as you withdraw two weeks before teaching begins, refunds accepted, minus 3% transaction fee charged by Wix. After this period, all tuition fees are non-refundable If you cannot complete a short course because of illness, you will be able to retake the course without further payment, provided that the course fees have been paid in full.
